Yes, it can be done, but it ain’t easy. Faithful TICS reader brnmbrns has discovered that it is indeed possible to grab a shot of the lock screen in version 2.0.2 of the firmware, and as you can see above, I have verified this. Here’s how:
• Place your left thumb on the home button but do not press it yet.
• Place your right index/pointer finger on the power button.
• Place your right thumb on the slider icon.
• Slide the unlock tab to the right of the bar. As soon as you let off of your right thumb hold the home button and press the power button. If done correctly you will have successfully snapped a shot of your locked screen. This may take practice.
Yeah, no kidding. It took me roughly 300 tries, and about 120 failed photos to get mine.
Aboce: As you can see, I had quite a few missed shots (about 120 or so).
Attempt #1. (I ended up with a TON of these blank ones…)
Attempt #20. Ooohhh… close!
Attempt #41. Less close…
Attempt #203. Wow! no fading, but the lock screen had started to fade away…
Attempt #260. I really should have given up by now….
SUCCESS!!
brnmbrns claims he can do it almost every time. He tried to make me feel better by saying that maybe my 3G iPhone had a faster processor or something than his 1st gen, and I will go with that so I feel better, although I have seen no other evidence that this phone is faster than my old one.

Hey! I can get it just about every time.
Try sliding your finger off to the right of the screen rather than just pulling up when done sliding.

Wow, that wasn’t easy. I got it on about the 10th try. But I don’t think I can do it again… or can I? WHY DID YOU SHOW ME THIS! It’s gonna be hard to show a new iphoner how to do this and prove it works now…

Nice one! But where’s that Wallpaper from?

Got this first time on 2.0.1. Shame you can’t do it normally as you could in 1.1.4 with the screenshot hack enabled.

I really don’t see how this can possibly be done. Every time I try it takes several seconds before it takes the shot while it instantly unlocks, no delay whatsoever.

Sorry….You fail
Your pic doensn’t have the lock where the clock is. Not locked once you see the clock!

All u got to do is hit the home key and the lock key at the same time on any thing u have one screen and it does it u don’t have to do me thing with the lock slider

Ummm. I don’t see what the problem is here? If you don’t take your finger off the slider, you can take the picture. I drag it to the end, hold my finger there, and take the picture. Easy.

I found an even easier way that made me feel stupid. When you lock. Your iPhone, press the home button to show your scree n saver and the slide bar. Then press the home button and the power button together. No need to scroll anymore. Enjoy it. It took me roughly a minute to figure it out. You can take a picture of any page that way, even online,
